Knarik Garankfilian is an engineer by profession who worked for more than a decade at the “Yerevan Project” Institute. However, following the Artsakh Movement in 1988, she made a complete career shift, dedicating herself to the field of social work. Initially, she volunteered to support refugees from Azerbaijan and families affected by the earthquake, and over time, this calling turned into a professional vocation. In 2005–2006, she completed training at the Faculty of Sociology at Yerevan State University and obtained the qualification of a social worker.

Knarik has extensive experience in community development. In 2002, with the support of the Tufenkian Foundation, she established a community center in Metsamor to assist socially vulnerable families and children. In 2012, she founded the “Family and Community” Charitable NGO, which today operates in Metsamor, Armavir, and Artik, providing comprehensive support to children and families.

She is also the founder of the Foster Parents Association and a Board Member of the Armenian Association of Social Workers. Knarik Garankfilian has been an active member of the Child Protection Network (CPN) since 2005 and served as its President from 2021 to 2024. Currently, as a Member of the CPN Board, she continues to play an active role in developing and strengthening Armenia’s child protection system.

Her professional interests include the development of service standards, innovation in social work approaches, advocacy, and public awareness. Representing the CPN, she is ready to act as a spokesperson, as well as to organize and lead sectoral events, guided by the Network’s charter and strategic vision.
