The Child Protection Network visited the “Naghashyan Children’s Home” Child Support Center, which has been operating in Yerevan since 2012.
The Center’s mission is to provide round-the-clock care and protection to girls who are in difficult life circumstances or deprived of parental care, offering social-psychological and rehabilitation services, a safe environment, and compassionate support.
The Center creates opportunities for every child to receive an education, gain stability, and build a dignified future. Parallel work is carried out with the children’s families as well—supporting reunification and social stability.
With the support of the Mer Hooys – House of Hope charitable foundation (USA), the Center implements two core programs:
· Round-the-clock care and protection for girls aged 6–18 who are in difficult life situations and deprived of parental care.
· Semi-independent Living Program for young women aged 18–23, preparing them for independent and self-sufficient adult life.
The girls living at the Center are provided opportunities to study at universities and vocational institutions in Armenia, as well as participate in extracurricular groups that support their development—music, theater, painting, and more.
During our visit, we observed the Center’s daily operations, the girls’ progress, and the team’s dedication. We also discussed opportunities for further cooperation, highlighting areas where the Center’s multidisciplinary team is ready to contribute to joint initiatives with the Child Protection Network.
Since 2012, Naghashyan Children’s Home—with the support of House of Hope – Mer Hooys, Inc.—has transformed the lives of dozens of young girls, equipping them with education, essential life skills, and confidence in their future. Many graduates have since built their own families and now lead independent lives, serving as positive role models for the other girls at the Center.
We extend our gratitude to the Center’s Director, Nune Geghamyan, and Stella Ayvazyan for their warm welcome, dedication, and readiness for continued cooperation.
