In the context of preventing online exploitation and violence against children, we continue to highlight the importance of cybersecurity. The internet is a powerful space full of opportunities, but unfortunately, not always a safe one. Children and teens often find themselves alone with their digital problems—unsure of whom to turn to for help.
This is exactly why CyberChat was created: the first platform in Armenia where anyone can receive anonymous, free, 24/7 support on technical, legal, or psychological issues.
CyberChat operates within the CyberHUB Center—the same team that has been protecting journalists, human rights defenders, and civil society organizations from cyberattacks and information threats for years.
CyberChat’s team includes:
• Media experts and technical specialists who help understand the causes of online issues and guide toward solutions.
• Lawyers who explain rights and provide clear steps for action.
• Psychologists who are ready to listen and support children in moments of fear, panic, or uncertainty.
The platform works in close cooperation with UNICEF, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, ensuring comprehensive assistance even in the most complex cases.
In just the first month of operation:
• CyberChat received 840 indirect and about 40 direct requests from various regions of Armenia.
• The most common issue was violations of children’s online safety.
• 703 teachers participated in webinars on digital safety.
• On social media, the platform reached over 820,000 views.
These numbers clearly show the strong need for a space where a child can simply say, “My account was hacked,” or “A stranger is messaging me and scaring me,” and immediately receive trusted, non-judgmental help.
